Conversation with John L. Merriweather What’s the best advice you’ve received? “That’s a tough one. So many great people have given me invaluable and insightful advice over the years. But if I had to choose just one, then it would be the advice given by my late mother, who both demonstrated daily and always admonished, ‘be the kindest person you know!’” Founder, President & CEO GO Destination Services Carmel, Indiana USA What is the one app that you cannot live without? “I have two, actually. Pandora and AudioBooks. If I am not listening to one, I’m enjoying the other.” What brought you into the mobility industry? “After three years in the U.S. Army as a much younger man, I wanted a career that aligned with my experience, education, and background. Because of its vast opportunity to help people and their families, the global mobility industry seemed to be an obvious and natural fit. Mobility is wrought with stressors and challenges, so providing calm destination service direction and resolve is extremely gratifying.” What are some of the highlights of your recent work? “Over the last 10 years, GO has been on an exciting growth and expansion trajectory. As we approach the 20-year mark, some of the recent highlights include providing comprehensive destination services to group moves from India to major cities throughout the U.S., orienting waves of executives to the west coast, and providing comprehensive settling-in services in several remote countries around the globe.” What motivates you? • • • • • Solving problems Growing up poor Accomplishing goals Being of service My family The ability to connect — digitally and in person — is one of your most valuable assets as a member of Worldwide ERC ® .
