The client's expatriate population moves often and it wishes to ensure that all assignees have a consistent and positive experience, regardless of location. However, each Americas entity operates autonomously and is subject to certain country regulations and local governance, which creates challenges with regard to program and policy consistency. Solution MSI has partnered with our client and their colleagues in each of its foreign locations to identify the tax and legal issues which are unique to the country and that present certain cost and administrative challenges. Working closely with our tax and legal counsel, MSI was then able to design and implement a process that achieved the clients primary goal while keeping the company compliant in its operating practices. Result A consistent and more manageable program for each of the client's Americas entities. Although most of their locations are able to apply the standard process, some are doing so with modifications that still provide a consistent benefit and result to their employees. Consolidating the program with MSI has also provided the client with a better view of its expat population, with comprehensive demographic and cost reporting. Additionally our client now has a strategic partner who is constantly seeking ways to improve their overall program, inclusive of these more challenging locations where the tax and legal requirements make it more difficult to operate.
